Who Are You?

Larry Hill wrote 'Who Are You' in 1985 and recorded it on a sequencer (least expensive in the shop) and a 4-track recorder in 1991.

"You say you love me so,
You do not want to go.
You say I must be dreaming,
The upbeat emotion has no double meaning.
Who are you?
Who are you?

I alone am the only one,
The others you've known were just for fun.
You insist I should not humour
Fantasy or foolish rumour.
Who are you?
Who are you?

Who are you really?
Who were you when you closed your eyes?
And held me tight and smiled so brightly
Down a thousand beautiful nights?
Who are you?
Who are you, darling?

Whispers wispering in my head,
Questioning the things you've said.
I'm sure there's more you're not revealing.
Who needs the proof when you've got a gut feeling?
Who are you?
Who are you?

Before I know it you will be back,
But the time is passing and you have to pack.
Ah, the sweet victory in your eye,
As you kiss your last goodbye.
Who are you?
Who are you, darling?

Who are you really?
Who were you when you closed your eyes?
And held me tight and smiled so brightly
Down a thousand beautiful nights.
Who are you?
Who are you, darling?

Didn't we both know paradise
Down a thousand passionate nights?
Still can't figure what I'm guilty of,
There's nothing more brittle than a woman's love.
Who are you?
Who are you, darling?

Ruining me for all the rest,
Your sweet heat beats in my breast.
Yearning, burning wracked with pain,
I will not love again.
Who are you?
Who are you?

Who are you really?
Who were you when you closed your eyes?
And held me tight and smiled so brightly
Down a thousand beautiful nights.
Who are you?
Who are you, darling?

Who were you?"
