Boredom

Larry Hill wrote the original version of 'Boredom' in 1974.

This one came together in January 2025.

To pay the cocaine salesman from the C.I.A.
My momma, she's got religion since they took big siss away,

I'm so bored 'cos it's always the same,
Weary, weary, lassitude,
I'd like to be creative but I'm never in the mood. In the mood. In the mood.'

My kid brother runs around with a gang of guys,
Who like nothing better than to smash and vandalise.
He loves to hear 'em squealing when he's twisting the knife,
His social worker thinks there's something missing in his life.

Boredom, boredom, boredom, let's play a game,
I'm so bored 'cos it's always the same,
Weary, weary, why am I so subdued,
I'd like to be up-and-at-em but I'm never in the mood.

Oh, I'm so happy that I could cry.
So full of life that I could die.
It's true the city streets are paved with gold.
It's just unfortunate the streets have all been sold.
What's wrong with me I wonder, could this be a dream?
Everything's alright they say, but are things what they seem?
What with drugs in the water and artificial food,
I wish I could complain but all I do is brood.

So, while my daddy lives in fear of the big, bogey man,

That leaves me, well, they'll put me to the sword...
