Stranger To Emotion

The above version of 'Stranger to Emotion' was created in January 2025.

These are the original lyrics:
"The woman who moves me I mostly ignore,
So I never get hurt when I'm shown the door.
The woman I want I do not dare.
Rejection is worse when you care.

One woman I loved I was her closest friend,
Confidant, confessor and her guiding hand.
She looked on me as an elder brother.
Such respect can render you blind to the lover.

I'm a stranger to emotion.
I'm a stranger to emotion.

I fantasize that some day I'll be brave
And walk right up to the woman I crave;
And so will begin a momentous affair,
I open my eyes and she isn't there.

I'm a stranger to emotion.
I'm a stranger to emotion.

When you keep your feelings hidden from view,
For fear she may turn you down,
Spending affection where it's mostly untrue,
Goodbye is a welcome sound.
So there's many a time when you've time on your hands.
Feint heart never won many lady friends.

I'm a stranger to emotion.
I'm a stranger to emotion.

That special girl who can make a man live,
Oh, she that I imagine I want to be with,
Is never the same that I stoop to kiss.
I save that for someone I will not miss.

I'm a stranger to emotion.
I'm a stranger to emotion.
To emotion."

Wrote this when I was seventeen (1967) and recorded it, with friend Pete Webster, a few years later.

The orchestration was down to Pete and the lead guitar riff is his.
