ANNABELLE

Wrote 'Annabelle' in 1975 and recorded it four years later.
"Some boys seem to be natural winners,
They've got all the money and they have such style.
Charming, witty, elegant manners,
With a firm handshake and a ready smile.
Well I've tried so hard to keep in touch
But really I think you ask too much, oh...

Annabelle, enough's enough.
Annabelle, you ask too much,
Annabelle, I know I don't match up,
Oh, all I can give you is a lot of love!

Me, I guess I take it easy,
No ambition or money to spend,
But, honey, I hope you were only teasing,
When you said you're gonna marry your rich boyfriend.
He may be good-looking, he may have class,
But, when he takes you in his arms, can he make it last?

Annabelle, enough's enough.
Annabelle, you ask too much,
Annabelle, I know I don't match up,
Oh, all I can give you is a lot of love!

You'll be unhappy if you go,
You can't live forever in the afterglow,
You might live in style, in comfort and ease,
But after a week you'll be bored to tears.

Annabelle, my dear,
Annabelle, I fear,
Annabelle, you were wrong,
You're gonna miss me before too long.

When I look at those pin-striped drones,
With their smiles so bright and their hearts of stone,
Seeing you just as a business deal,
I can't understand this attraction you feel, oh,
Don't you know if you go with them,
It's just a glossy imitation of the real thing?

Annabelle, enough's enough.
Annabelle, you ask too much, Annabelle,
I know I don't match up,
Oh, all I can give you is a lot of love!"
