Ask Him In John

Larry Hill wrote 'Ask Him in John' in 1985.

This version of the song was created in October 2024. The video was published in January 2025.

The song features at no. 4 on the forthcoming album (released on 16 January 2025).

Unfortunately, a mistake was made. A different version of the song was inserted. Not only that, the original scruffy ending of that recording has been left in!

Anyway, the version above is the one that should be there, but isn't.

Apologies in advance for this foolish error.

Anyway, here you have two versions of 'Ask Him in, John' for the price of one.

The video seen below (images exactly similar to those seen in the one above), contains the recording that features on the album, minus the 'scruffy' bits at the end.

"Crying.
Can't you hear him crying?
At the window, dying,
John, it's cold outside.
Come in from your arctic answers,
Can't you hear the silver dancers?

Ask him in, John.
Ask him in John.

Waiting.
For someone to see him,
For someone to free him,
You alone can do the job, John.
Turn, see that face again,
Pressed up to the window pane.

Ask him in, John.
Ask him in John.
Snowing.
In your heart it's snowing,
Crouched down by the glowing,
Embers in the fireside.
Don't you know you'll not be warm
Until he shelters from the storm? Oh,

Ask him in, John.
Ask him in John.

I wanted to join in their game,
But never once did they call my name.
I was left cold and alone,
Outside the circle, on my own,
And crying.
Turning to stone.

You, John, were always so afraid,
Aloof and cold like a soldier on parade.
Inside the circle you should have gone.
John, you could have asked anyone.
Denying, there would have been none.

Crying.
I can hear you crying,
Alone you're only dying.
Trying now to turn around, John.
At the door your own reflection,
John embrace a resurrection.

Ask him in, John.
Ask him in, John,
Ask him in, John.
Ask him in, John,
Ask him in, John."
